OUR PROUD HERITAGE

Built in the 1840s Drayton House was one of the iconic elegant residences in the heart of the old Birkdale Village, Southport, Merseyside.

In December 1993 Drayton House was acquired by a local Ophthalmologist,

Tayo Akingbehin, and converted to Britain’s first specialist eye day-case hospital to provide excellence in eye-care, in a non-hospital environment, with modern technology delivering ophthalmic treatment.

This pioneering approach led to Drayton House being the first UK clinic to provide day-case surgery without hospitalisation, putting into practice the mainstay of healthcare service delivery – providing care closer to home.

The grade 2 listed Victorian building was sympathetically restored maintaining the fine Victorian features and creating a fully equipped operating theatre, various consulting and diagnostic rooms, and support services.Situated in peaceful surroundings with ample free car parking for patients and relatives on site. In 2009 the name of the clinic was changed to iSIGHT Clinics to include other satellite clinics opened in Windermere (previously Charles Adam Clinic), Liverpool and Burscough.

QUALITY OF CARE

Quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do, this has been reflected in our ISO 9001 Quality Management certification (2017), ISO 14001 Environmental certification and the comments from our most recent CQC report (September 2017).

“We rated this service as good because it was safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The hospital had processes in place to keep patients safe when undergoing treatment in the out-patients department.

Referral to treatment times were good and the hospital had systems in place to ensure that patients were seen in a timely manner. Training was available for staff and the hospital was developing a nurse-led service for patients with age related macular degeneration. Staff were very caring and patient feedback about the hospital was very positive.”
